About the event
Uncorked Vintage Academia invites you to an exclusive, in-depth exploration of Tempranillo, one of Texas’ favorite grape varieties, hosted at Somm Space.
Tempranillo thrives across Spain and beyond — and even here in Texas’ Mediterranean-like climate. In this immersive seminar-style tasting, we’ll explore 16+ wines, including selections from private collections, sold-out and library bottles, and winemaker-direct samples.
You’ll hear firsthand from Mike Batek of Hye Meadow Winery and Cooper Anderson of The Austin Winery, who will share insight into growing Tempranillo in Texas, their winemaking approaches, and the unique challenges and rewards of working with this grape. We’ll also taste library wines from their cellars.
Our journey continues beyond Texas and Spain, venturing into lesser-known Tempranillo regions including Greece, Argentina, Mexico, and other parts of the United States such as Washington and California — spanning five countries, eight distinct regions, and multiple winemaking styles.
